Okay, here we go. First, I'll just talk about some of the games that I purchased/acquired at Origins. I participated in the math trade this year, and got rid of the following games:
Times Square
Slide 5
Pizza Box Football
Caesar & Cleopatra
Master of Rules
Tumba
Sunken City
Treasure Fleet
Toscana
AND, I got the following Games:
Trainsport: Switzerland
Pig Pile
Tigris & Euphrates
Panzerzug
Interurban
Vinci
Modern Art
Entdecker: Exploring New Horizons
Villa Poletti
Then, in the Exhibit Hall, they had this great deal on old and out of print Martin Wallace games. I simply could not help myself, and I picked up “extra” copies of Way out West, Byzantium, and Tempus. They were only $20 each!!! I also picked up a copy of Soccer Dice and the super exclusive, only 350 printed, totally renamed “Steam”. I played the basic version of the new revised or simplified Age of Steam twice and enjoyed it. I would have no problem using it to introduce a new player to the wonderful world of Age of Steam, but I would also hope that they would quickly move on to what I believe is the better game. (Age of Steam that is). The real reason that I purchased this version was that they were out of stock of the regular game. I had a coupon that gave me a rebate on a purchase so I guess I just wanted to get something. Oh, and I picked up a brand new copy of Doge for only $7 on the last day!
So, Vendor Room Purchase:
Steam
Soccer Dice
Way Out West
Byzantium
Doge
Then, CABS (with a special thanks to Jay @ RGG) had a tremendous amount of free games to distribute. From this, I ended up with:
Key Harvest
Ponte Del Diavolo
Louis XIV
Duckling Dancin’ (2x)
Notre Dame
Finally, Nathan Cope sold me his copy of Wabash Cannonball so that hey could pickup Chicago Express. And I bought Ars Mysteriosum in the auction store.
Final Acquisitions:
Wabash Cannonball
Ars Mysteriosum
So sum it all up, this was probably the best Origins that I have ever been to. The reason for this is the people. I want to thank every single person that I met at the convention for this! I can’t wait for next year.
