Vinci and Tikal

I went to the Lower Allen Community Center to game with Kevin and some others. Our first game of the session was a six player game of Vinci. After recently giving Small World a couple of plays, I was happy to give Vinci another shot. And I will happily admit that I like Vinci more. Although with six players there was way too much downtime, and the game took over two hours, I still enjoyed the little bit of extra depth that Vinci has over small world. Thus, I will play Small World, but I would rather play Vinci.

Next up was Tikal. I have always been lukewarm over this game, and that continues to be the case. I ended up coming in last place, and this may have had something to do with it, but I sincerely doubt it. It is more plausible that I simply dislike the action point mechanism. Whatever the case, Tikal doesn't do much for me and if I am given the choice, I would happily pass.
