Wednesday Night Gaming

Dan was unable to make it to gaming last night, so Mike and I had the rare opportunity to spend more than an hour or so playing 2 player games. We had planned on this and decided to finally get that full game of Waterloo in. Interestingly, our "full" game only lasted for about 2 hours anyway. I really doubt that this is the expected time length, since most players' report much longer play times, so I ended up the game wondering what I had done wrong. I still lack the full understanding of war games necessary to take advantage of troop strategies, and I find this particularly frustrating. I had also neglected to read up on the rules ahead of time, and when I enter a game without a clear idea of the rules, I do get overwhelmed. So, with that said, I ended up winning the game by the end of the third turn by destroying 16 (or is it 13) of Mike’s units. I want to play Waterloo again soon, so I hope that Mike and I have another opportunity before I forget the rules again. Next time, I will be sure to read over the rules before playing.

After that, my Mom joined us for a 3 player game of one of the prototypes I am helping with. I can't really say anything here, except that I really like this game and can’t wait to see it in publication.

To wrap this post up, this weekend is Emanuele Ornella Day! Or, at least it is the "American" EO Day. I figured, as you all know, that since I could not make it to the festivities in Italy, that I would try to host my own. The event is shaping up brilliantly and I hope to have around 8-10 people/close friends showing up. More on this soon…
