Weekend Update

On Saturday, I went to see Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian. This is an excellent movie. I know that it is light comedy, but the constant onslaught of one-liners and inside jokes made for a very enjoyable experience. Who can forget the picture of Orville and Wilbur Wright eating freeze dried ice cream in the Air and Space museum?

Or, even better, is the scene with the miniature Roman general charging across the White House Lawn? (This was one of my favorites.) This scene featured two different shots. One was a close-up of the general running through the grass. In this mode, you could hear him yelling and dramatic soundtrack music played in the background. Then, the camera would zoom out and you heard nothing and were not even able to see the general. Great Stuff indeed!

Regarding gaming, I finished up a close game of China online. I try to keep about one game going at a time. So far, Ravindra (snoozefest) keeps besting me, but I will have my day!

I also managed to get in a learning game of InterUrban followed by a real 2p game. Of course, I wasn't even able to play the game until I had spent almost an hour CUTTING OUT THE PARTS! For those of you who know me, you understand that taking a knife to my game is a very very painful process. But I perservered and I think that I did a pretty good job putting it together.

Anyhow, it was worth the time. InterUrban is a fairly basic game where players extend the six different railroad lines. The lines themselves are worth a varying number of points based on the tiles that go into them. Players fight to control these lines by adding Station tiles to the line. It plays in approximately 30 minutes and it is a decent addition to my list of Winsome games.
